Curriculum
Heritage House School employs the Cambridge International Primary Programme (CIPP) in the core curriculum areas of English, Mathematics, ICT and Science. As an international programme, the CIPP provides the school with an external benchmark to inform the teaching of children between 5 to 11+ years. It gives the school an international curriculum to work with, allowing easy measurement of learner’s progress overtime and also details structured reporting to parents. CIPP gives the assurance of a qualitative and global curriculum, as children sit an international examination which is benchmarked against results of other children in over 150 different countries where the same examinations are taken. In addition to the international curriculum employed for the core subject areas, aspects of the Nigerian National Curriculum especially as it is relevant to the child, his culture and immediate environment are also fully explored.
Fine and applied art to a large extent is a practical oriented subject and very important to the development of a child both physically and mentally. Heritage House School has taken time to provide a sound curriculum for art, which encompass different tasks and experiences which will go a long way to sharpen the child’s basic skill not only in art but also laying a foundation to succeed in other subjects too.
Heritage House School has provided a conducive and well equipped art room for proper learning and also a well trained art teacher to instill and guide pupils towards achieving a solid foundation, confidence, creative mind and successful individual.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
The important of ICT in the education of children of this age cannot be overemphasized. Information and communication Technology enables children to research the information they need and to organize their findings accordingly.
It is essential that children become increasingly responsible for their own learning as they progress through the school system, thus at Heritage House School ICT is not only taught as a subject but incorporated into all other curriculum areas,so children can implement the skills acquired and be more independent in their learning.
Our facilities include a fully equipped ICT laboratory with individualized computer and full internet security control. This affords children the opportunity to research, practice other educational programmes and hone their computer skills under a supervised environment .
